Vikidia Strengthens Cross-cultural Ties [fr]

In a collaborative effort between the Department of Educational Cooperation at the French Embassy in Malaysia and Wikimedia Malaysia, the Vikidia project emerged with the goal of enriching existing references related to Malaysia and Malaysian culture on the Vikidia platform.

Commencing in August 2023 and concluding in December 2023, the project has involved:

 52 students from 9 Malaysian public secondary schools
 Creation of 15 new paragraphs and 5 new sections on the "Malaisie" page
 Development of 20+ articles covering diverse topics related to Malaysia and its culture.

The project has delved into various themes, including Geography, History, Malaysian gastronomy, Economy, Culture, Symbols, Celebrities, Athletes, and Religious Tourism in Malaysia.

Vikidia, an encyclopedia in French catering to readers aged 8 to 13 and those seeking a straightforward explanation of topics, has played a pivotal role in disseminating information about Malaysia and its vibrant culture. This collaborative initiative has not only enhanced the platform’s content, it has also fostered cross-cultural understanding among participating students.
