How to certify your French language skills ?
Several exams are available in Malaysia to attest your level of proficiency in French language:
DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française)
Test de connaissance du français (TCF):
Test d’Évaluation de Français (TEF):
Diplôme de Français Professionnel (DFP):
DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française)
Issued by the French Ministry of Education, DELF and DALF validate the French language proficiency of non-French candidates.
These diplomas are valid for life and internationally recognized.
Oral and written skills are tested during the examinations (reading, listening, writing, and speaking).
They cover 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages:
A1 and A2: basic (DELF)
B1 and B2: independent (DELF)
C1 and C2: proficient (DALF)
Candidates from 7 years old and above can sit for these exams.
Holders of DELF B2 or DALF are exempt from language entrance exams in French universities.
Test de connaissance du français (TCF):
This is a French language proficiency test for non-native speakers of French who wish to evaluate their level of proficiency certified for professional, academic or personal reasons. TCF is issued by France Education International and is useful for various purposes, including immigration and citizenship applications.
It is officially recognised by the French Ministry of Higher Education, French Ministry of Culture as well as by the French Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration.
Candidates from 16 years old and above can sit for this test and it is valid for 2 years.
Test d’Évaluation de Français (TEF):
This is an international benchmark test that measures your level of knowledge and skills in French. It is delivered by the Paris Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is widely accepted for academic, immigration, and citizenship purposes.
Oral and written skills are tested during the examinations (reading, listening, writing, and speaking). This test is valid for 2 years.
Diplôme de Français Professionnel (DFP):
DFP (Diplôme de Français Professionnel) is issued by the Paris Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is a business-oriented diploma. It aims to certify your French oral and written communication skills in the main areas of the professional world.
