Launch of Insitut Pondok Perancis [fr]
The cutting of the ribbon for the launch of Institut Pondok Perancis happened this morning at the ZhongShan building, Kampung Attap right after the Ambassador of France to Malaysia, HE Christophe Penot delivered his speech.
Pondok Perancis is dedicated to Social Sciences and Humanities in Malaysia and it extends the rich academic and scientific cooperation between France and Malaysia. The centre complements the activities of the Research Insititute on Contemporary Southeast Asia (IRASEC), which focuses on political, social, economic, and environmental processes, as well as regional integration dynamics among the region’s 11 countries.
The ambition of the Institut Pondok Perancis is to favor circulation of knowledge and to reinforce intellectual links through supporting fieldwork research, translation and publication. It will help to organize Seminars and conference.
Present at the launch were the André Berly, President of Pondok Perancis, Associate Professor Elsa Lafaye de Micheaux, Dr. Jarina Mohd Jani and Chan Quan Min.
Invited guests took a tour around the Institut Pondok Perancis and also discovered the charm of restored heritage building where the Pondok Perancis is located.
