Statement regarding Nora Anne Quoirin

Statement by M. Jean-Yves Le Drian, French Minister of Europe & Foreign Affairs, and M. Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Secretary of State for Europe & Foreign Affairs (13 August 2019).

It is with great sadness that we have learnt the passing away of young Nora Quoirin in Malaysia. We wish to express our sincere condolences to her family and loved ones and assure them of our profound compassion.

We thank the Malaysian authorities for their great responsiveness and exceptional mobilization in the context of the search conducted since Nora Quoirin’s disappearance, during the night of 3 to 4 August. French authorities are at the disposal of Malaysian authorities so that full light is shed on the circumstances of her death.

We are also grateful for the solidarity shown by the people of Malaysia, who volunteered their assistance.

The Crisis and Support Centre of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and our consulate in Kuala Lumpur remain at the family’s disposal, to continue supporting them during this ordeal.
