FRENCH + SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP GRANT 2024
Presentation of the program:
Training of human resources in science, technology and innovation is an essential part of the strategy lead by the Service of Cultural Cooperation and Action, Embassy of France to Malaysia. In order to support the bilateral cooperation in marine science and technologies, the Embassy of France to Malaysia and Campus France Malaysia are launching the first edition of the “French + Sciences” scholarship program. This scholarship is dedicated to supporting the mobilities of Malaysian undergraduate students to the “Sciences and Technologies of the Sea” summer school (June-July 2024), offered by the Language Center “Ciel Bretagne”, in collaboration with Technopôle Brest Iroise, and Campus Mondial de la Mer.
The summer school offers international students with a 3-week program of visits to companies and state-of the-art laboratories (conducted in English), conferences on current and future challenges facing the engineering professions, and courses in French as foreign language (beginner level). The program also includes a wide selection of excursions and cultural visits centered on the theme of “Science and technologies of the sea”. French-language instruction and thematic activities cover 30 hours per week:
• 15 hours of French as a foreign language classes (beginner level), enabling students to acquire or improve oral and written communication skills
• 15 hours of thematic and cultural activities: conferences, visits to companies and research institutions, natural attractions, etc.
Who can apply?
Applicant must fulfil the eligibility criteria:
Malaysian citizens under 25 years of age by 31st December 2024.
Students currently enrolled in a higher education institution (public or private), in a Bachelor degree in marine sciences or technologies, or a Bachelor degree related to marine science or technologies (biology, geology, engineering, data analysis …)
Knowledge of French is not mandatory
What support is provided by the scholarship?
The scholarship offered by the Embassy of France to Malaysia and Campus France Malaysia fully covers the expenses of the program: transportation, accommodation in a host family, meals, and tuition fees.
As holders of a grant from the French government, scholars will benefit from the assistance of Campus France. The agency will provide a service package including: booking of the plane tickets and accommodation within a host family, airport pickup and transportation to and from the language center, and social security (health) coverage.
The support provided concerns solely the selected applicant: no arrangements will be made for any dependents or family members.

Academic record and competencies of the candidate
Relevance of the candidate’s actual degree
Added value of the program in the candidate’s training and professional project
Likelihood of the candidate to pursue a Master degree in France
What other conditions apply?
Applicants must make sure they have a passport with an adequate validity period
Selected candidates commit to submitting a final report must be submitted to the Embassy no later than September 15th 2024 and to register in the Campus France Alumni database
