Will China’s economic slowdown harm Malaysia’s growth?

Making sense of the complex relationship between China and Malaysia has become increasingly important, given recent concern over whether the slowdown of China’s economy could adversely affect Malaysia. The speaker explores this and more China-Malaysia ties in this talk based on a discussion paper to be published by IRASEC (2016).

PNGChina-Malaysia relations operate with ever-growing proximity. This talk will focus mainly on their fast economic rapprochement of the last decade. Indeed, the economic relationship between Malaysia and China is commercial, monetary and financial but comprises also big investments deals.
The speaker will present research findings with particularly close attention paid to the nature and location of China’s investment projects in Malaysia and their historical acceleration occurring in 2013-2014.
Our viewpoint on these evolutions of the bilateral relationship is from the Malaysian perspective.

The talk will be held in English
