Reception at the Residence of France for the next generation of French language teachers in Malaysia
To celebrate the success of the training for French language teachers in Malaysia, in partnership with the Ministry of Education Malaysia, the Ambassador of France in Malaysia has invited on Monday 25th July 2016, the cohort of students that just came back from France (15 students), the new cohort leaving in September for France (12 students) and the Ministry of Education to celebrate the success of this collaboration and tackle future development.
In 2011, the Embassy of France of France, in partnership with the University of Franche-Comté as signed a MOU with the Ministry of Education Malaysia in order to train the future teacher of French language in Boarding school and daily school in Malaysia.
This program works in 6 years of training:
• Selection of students with a level A2 in French from Malaysian Schools
• 2 years of training at Institute Pendidilan Guru Kampus Bahasa Antarabangsa (IPGKBA) in Kuala Lumpur, in order to reach the level B2 in French to allow them to study in France
• 3 years at the University of Franche-Comté (with one year of French language intensive program at the CLA), complete their study with a Licence degree (bachelor) in Teaching French as a foreign language. C1-C2 level
• 1 year of professionalization at IPGKBA
3 years of language and pedagogy training in France
After spending two years of foundation program in Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Bahasa Antarabangsa, each cohort leave to further its studies in France. The students are first trained in CLA center within the University that allows them to have French language intensive courses. They are then ready to follow a bachelor degree in Linguistic Sciences – specialty of teaching French as a foreign language, along with French students. This complete immersion allows the future teacher to develop a high proficient skills regarding French culture, French language and of course, help them to develop innovative teaching expertise.
A program of excellence for the Education in Malaysia in the Framework of the Blueprint
75 French language teachers have been already trained through this program and posted in the public secondary schools in Malaysia. In 2016, 85 public secondary schools are offering French language which represents 13060 students, a number that has doubled in 5 years with this program. This program has proved its efficiency by the high result of success at the DELF SCOLAIRE of students learning French in secondary school in Malaysia.
A MOU has been signed with the Examination Syndicate of the Ministry of Education to organise this certification for more students this year. 2700 students will sit for the DELFscolaire exams.
