The mission of the École française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO), a public institution under the aegis of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, is to study the classical civilizations of Asia through the humanities and social sciences.
Daniel Perret is a researcher at EFEO since 1994, specialized in ancient and early modern history of Southeast Asia, especially of Sumatra and Peninsular Malaysia. He will introduce the main recent archaeological activities conducted by EFEO in the region on sites dating from the ninth until the seventeenth centuries
