Every year, the Embassy of France gets involved to celebrate the French language week and to organise various events linked to French language.
In order to gather and make discover the diversity of the French speaking world, the Embassy of France and about 15 other Embassies and High Commissions organise the Francophonie buffet.
On that occasion, each Embassy and High Commission holds a stall showcasing the culinary specialties of its country. It is also a great opportunity to promote tourism and economy from these countries. All along the evening, several performers from all over the world share the stage; singers and dancers initiate the guests to their culture.
Generally the participants to the buffet are Belgium, Canada, Egypt, France, Georgia, Guinea, Laos, Lebanon, Mauritius, Morocco, Qatar, Romania, Senegal, Switzerland and Vietnam.
School and university competitions
In order to encourage students learning French and to motivate their teachers, the Education Department organises various school and university competitions.
These competitions allow students learning French to practice the language in a playful and creative way. According to the years, they have to come up with videos or texts depending on their creativity.
The Education department also forward the information regarding other competitions organised around French language.
For over 20 years, Help College of Art and Technology has welcomed schools and universities of the country teaching French for special French language day.
During this day, students learning French watch francophone movies, answer a quiz on francophone countries, can participate in a singing contest and be part of a talk with French speaking diplomats.
This day is also the moment when the winning teams receive their prizes for the school and university competitions.
This event is growing every year: 400 students in 2014, more than 900 in 2017.
